Your first 7 Days to Die server

Joining by IP, your settings file, becoming admin and mods.

1. How do my friends and I join?

In 7 Days to Die, choose Join a Game, then Connect to IP. Type the part of your address before the colon as the IP and the number after it as the port, then connect.

2. Where are the server settings?

Stop the server, then in the Files tab open serverconfig.xml. Common ones: ServerName, ServerPassword, ServerVisibility, GameWorld, WorldGenSeed and the loot and zombie settings. Choose Save Content and start the server. Game Difficulty is in the Startup tab.

3. How do I make myself an admin?

Join the server, then in the panel Console type lp to list players with their IDs. Then type admin add followed by your ID and 0, the highest level, for example:

admin add Steam_76561198012345678 0

In game, press F1 to open the console and use admin commands.

4. How do I add mods?

Stop the server and make a backup. Upload each mod folder (it contains a ModInfo.xml) into a folder called Mods in the server folder; create Mods if it is not there. Start the server. Mods that only change server rules work for everyone; mods that add new things usually have to be installed by every player too.
