Your first Minecraft Crossplay server

One world for Java and Bedrock players. How each edition joins, admins and plugins.

1. How do Java players join?

In Minecraft Java Edition, choose Multiplayer, then Add Server, and type the full address including the number after the colon. Java players need the same Minecraft version as the server (shown in the Startup tab).

2. How do Bedrock players join?

In Minecraft on Windows, phones or tablets, choose Play, then Servers, then Add Server. Type the part of the address before the colon in Server Address and the number after it in Port. It is the same address and the same port number Java players use.

3. How do I make someone an operator (admin)?

Have them join once, then type op followed by their name in the Console. Bedrock players get a dot in front of their name on this server, so for a Bedrock player it is:

op .TheirGamertag

4. Can I add plugins?

Yes. This server runs Purpur, a version of Paper, so Paper plugins work: upload them to the plugins folder and Restart. Leave the Geyser and floodgate plugins in place; they are what lets Bedrock players in. Java mods are not supported on a Crossplay server.

5. Bedrock players cannot join after a game update. What do I do?

Make a backup, then choose Reinstall Server in the Settings tab. That downloads the latest Geyser and Floodgate, the plugins that let Bedrock players in, and keeps your world. If Startup has a fixed Minecraft Version, set it to the newest release first.
